Amac offer two entry-level qualifications to allow you to gain employment in a fitness role. These are L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym-based Exercise) and L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music). The decision of which L2 fitness qualification to undertake is entirely yours. You should consider your personal competencies and your future goals.

Gym Instructor

Level 2 Gym Instructor

This is the more popular of the two L2 fitness qualifications as it is the prerequisite to anyone looking to become a Personal Trainer and progress on to the L3 Certificate in Personal Training. If this is your goal we usually suggest gaining your L2 and L3 qualifications together as a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (Includes Gym Instructor) especially if you wish to fast-track your progress. Amac’s Personal Trainer Career Package is the most cost-effective way to gain this Diploma and includes courses from Amac’s PROfusion Range, which will enhance your PT portfolio, as well as a free NUS Extra discount card and free REPS membership.

With a L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym) you can gain work in a gym environment as a Gym Instructor. To increase your employability you can then complete ‘add on’ one day qualifications. Options include High Intensity Interval Training, Combat Fitness, Kettlebell Training, Indoor Cycling, Rope Training and Sandbag Training. You can then run your own group exercise classes and have a competitive portfolio.

Exercise to Music Instructor

Exercise to Music

This course is suited to those looking to run their own studio-based exercise classes combining exercise and music (aerobics). ETM students must be familiar with the movements involved and already regularly attend classes themselves.

With a L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music) you can run your own classes as an Exercise to Music (Aerobics) Instructor. It also enables you to complete PROfusion Range courses and build your portfolio, as with the gym-based L2 qualification (see above).
