Although I personally do lots of training, I have recently discovered I am now absolutely rubbish at running! Years of HIIT, martial arts training and unconventional training methods (kettlebells, sandbags, etc), and no roadwork whatsoever, whilst making me much stronger and more powerful, have left my running ability at what can only be described as pitiful – a perfect illustration of the specificity of training.
I’ve set up my treadmill at home and have vowed to reverse this decline. I came across some free podcasts which claim to be able to take a complete beginner with no running ability to someone that can comfortably run 5k in nine weeks – the reviews back up this claim. I am going to give these podcasts a go and will let you know how well they are working.
